Dixon makes it look P1SSEEZEE Paul Dixon (VS Cycles) was the winner of the Keith Simpson Memorial Road Race on the tough Hartshead Moor circuit in Yorkshire this weekend.
VS Cycles main sponsor is the Avocet Chemical Company in Brighouse, and the manufacturers of P155 EEZEE bike wash. Dixon cleaned up most of the primes and the first prize in this Batley CC promotion.
Coming a week after his victory in the Yorkshire Divisional Masters Championships, Dixon rode a measured race, always in control, and timing his every move to perfection.
The 105 km undulating circuit was a difficult challenge for the full field, with a fast pace set from the gun.
A first lap break of four including Richard Moore (Star Bikes) and Stuart Axcell (GB Fire Service) stretched their lead to over two minutes on the main field. The reaction from the bunch took a while but eventually a group of eleven broke away and bridged the gap to the leaders.
Paul Dixon was the main driving force in the new leading group and with Sean Smith (Halifax Imps) stretched out the break up the climb towards Hartshead village.
At the bell Dixon had moved clear of the break and forged a lead of over a minute. There was little reaction from the chasers and the Yorkshire champion was able to extend his lead to over 1.30 at the finish.
